White kitchens are a white-hot trend in home design and homeowners can choose from a wide selection of countertops and cabinets in a variety of materials in the latest shades of white. White kitchens are often warmed up now with more natural wood grains, so expect to see hardwood flooring and pops of color, like the blues pictured here. Another popular trend is to paint the cabinets in the island a different color like navy or dark blue.

White Cabinets

Some designers say that white kitchens are so yesterday, but we love the juxtaposition of the crisp white with splashes of color.  Maybe that means blue cabinets with a white countertop or all white cabinets and countertops with a blue tile backsplash.  Design a kitchen that you love!  Opt for colors you love and look for warmer, creamy whites that make the kitchen feel like the welcoming gathering place that it is.

White kitchens have a fresh and timeless look and they’re easy to keep clean. They’re the perfect backdrop for colorful cookware, linens, and china.

There are hundreds of shades of white varying from cool to warm. Use different shades of white and contrasting textures in your kitchen to give the room a look that is rich and personal.

White Countertops

Homebuyers or those remodeling a home can choose from a wide range of countertop materials including Cambria quartz, granite, natural marble, natural stone, and solid surface.

Here are some top countertop choices for a beautiful kitchen in shades of white:

Cambria quartz is a durable, nonporous engineered product that is 93% natural stone and comes in slab form much like natural marble and granite. Cambria offers lots of shades of white including three introduced earlier this year: Notting Hill, Hermitage, and Cashel.

Notting Hill has organic burgundy veins traversing a clean warm white canvas with a delicate shimmer.
  • Hermitage ties in with today’s gold and bronze hardware trends. With delicate gold veining and swirls in tight open patterns, this elegant warm design glistens.
  • Keeping with the burgundy theme, Cashel boasts energetic burgundy veins fracturing across a warm white background. the veins are accented with tan shading.
  • Other Cambria whites include Hemsworth with high contract black veins, Ruxley with subtle emerald veining, Ivybridge with dark teal diagonal veins are artic white.
White marble countertops are also very trendy. The five most popular are White Cararra Marble, Calacatta Gold Marble, Calacatta Manhattan Marble, Calacatta Toscano Marble, or White Monte Blanc Marble.

  • Italian Carrara marble, which is the material Michelangelo and other Renaissance sculptors used for their classic works, is slightly gray, timeless, beautiful, and durable enough for most families. It also reflects a sense of luxury.
  • Calacatta Gold marble, also imported from Italy, is the whitest marble choice with warm grey and gold veining. It tends to be used in the most luxurious projects due to its exotic nature.
